What I Deserve...?!

I have worked HARD on these blogs. I honostly cant stand doing them. I still tried my hardest to work on them. I did like putting pictures on them though. I worked on them while I was at home.

Earth Science

Geology
I liked studying the geologic time scale. It wuz fun remembering the geologic time sclaes. It is divided into eons, eras, periods, and epochs. I even made a song to remember the periods!
Oceonography
My favorite part of oceanography was learning about sonars and satellites that measure the depth of the ocean floor. Sonar means sound navigation and ranging. Satellites send radar pulses back that reflect back to the surface to measure depth.

Meteorology
I liked studying the types of clouds. My favorite activity was making cloud types using cotton balls. I chose nimbostratus, which are low clouds that bring rain, cirrus, which are high and white, and cumulus, which are low puffy clouds.

Astronomy
I liked when we learned about stars. It surprised me that the Sun was just an average star. I also found it interesting that one day the Sun will die. I didnt think there were stars bigger than the sun and I also thought everything revolves around the Sun. It was also shocking to me that there are millions more stars than what we see in the night sky.

HR Digram

The stars that are blue are the hottest, the stars that are red are the coldest. Hotter stars have shorter lives

1. On an H-R Diagram, what is the main sequence?
Main-sequence stars are stars that fall along a band that runs from the upper left corner to the lower right corner of the diagram.

2. What percentage of stars are main sequence stars?
90% of stars are main sequence stars

3. Is the Sun a main sequence star?
The sun is a main sequence star.

4. What will happen to the Sun next? When will this happen?
In 4 to 5 billion years the sun will turn into a red giant.

Stars

1. Name 10 stars.
Names of stars are Acamar, Acrux, Bellatrix, Canopus, Enif, Hadar, Kocab, Menkar, Phad, and the Sun
2. Choose one star. Which one did you choose?
I chose the sun.
3. What kind of star is it?
The sun is a dwarf star.
4. Are there any planets that orbit this star? Tell me about them.
All eight planets orbit the sun.
5. What galaxy is this star a part of?
The sun is a part of the Milky Way Galaxy
6. How far is the star from Earth?
The sun is 1 AU or about 150 million km from Earth.

Astronomy

Black Holes

Black holes are objects that are very dense and nothing can escape

their gravity, not even light. A black hole puts out the same force on

something far away as any other object of the same mass would. Time

practically stops in the vicinity of a black hole. Black holes are thought to

form when stars or massive objects collapse from their own gravity. This is

called a supernova explosion. There are three types of black holes. Supermasive,

Stellar, and Miniature.

The Moon

Earth has 1 moon. It is 238, 857 miles from earth. Because there is no

atmosphere, the lunar sky is always black. There is also very little gravity.

The gravity on the moon is one-sixth of that on Earth. Someone who weighs 180

pounds on Earth will only weigh 30 pounds on the moon. The moon is about 4 1/2

billion years old. The moon is slowly moving away from Earth. There are eight phases

of the moon. The new moon, waning crescent, last quarter, waning gibbous, full moon, waxing

gibbous, first quarter and waxing crescent.

Titan

Titan is Saturns largest moon. It is the second largest moon in the solar

system. It is larger than Mercury and Pluto. Unlike Earth's moon, Titan has

an atmosphere. The air here is mostly made up of nitrogen. That is why it is kind

of orange there. The atmosphere here is so thick that spacecrafts have yet to break

through it. Spacecrafts are being created to break through this powerful layer of clouds

to reveal all of Titans features.

Milky Way Galaxy
The Milky Way is the galaxy in which our solar system lives. There is around 400

billion stars here

Factors That Effect Wind

1. Three factors that effect wind are pressure differences, the Coriolis effect and friction

2. I believe that the Coriolis effect has the greatest effect because it determines in which direction all moving objects go.

3. If the Coriolis effect stopped, then moving objects, like a plane, would go exactly in a straight line.
